THE GENESIS OF KING’S KID HOME-SCHOOL:
As the
wave of Military Civil wars was dying out in Southern Uganda in early 1985,
like in many parts of the country, the healing was sabotaged by the up-rise
of another ‘civil war’-
HIV/AIDS. Since then
the unrest and turmoil has been continuous. Kids have been left without
parents, hopeless, homeless and with almost no one to care!
Before
they met each other for marriage in June 2000, Robert and Esther Mponye had
gone through the same agony of losing some of their parents and relatives.
They had been individually disturbed by the plight of these innocent Kids
who had no one to love them, all over the community of Mityana. After their
marriage, Robert and Esther, founding pastors of
Lifehouse Community Church, stepped out to minister to
the needs of these Kids though they had nothing but a small house where they
started with two lads and a young girl who had been abandoned by their
helpless parents. Since then, they have seen God use them to bring a smile
to Kids who had no hope to live longer. Presently they take care of over 160
Kids for whom they have built a small school – King’s Kid Home-School.
Together with seven other parent- teachers, Robert and Esther help feeding,
clothing, educating, providing medical care, sheltering, and discipling
these Kids into what God has planned them to become.
King’s Kids!
King’s Kid Home-School today runs
five classes; Kindergarten – Primary Four, but with a vision to continue
supporting all age groups of all manner of Kids in their community.
The Mponyes have
secured a small piece of land where the Home-School has a small premise with
three small-size rooms, not to the standard of a classroom. Due to limited
resources, the classes are often conducted under tree shades.
They
also house 42 kids in a rented room.
Most
of these kids have no where to stay!! They are left without a parent. Some
of the kids’ relatives have gone ahead and sold off their parents’ property
after their (parents) death!! Unbelievable and yet true!
Mission:
Reaching the hopeless and desolate Kids with Hope and New Life opportunities
through tangible Love and compassion.
Vision:
To see
that hopeless and desolate kids in our Mityana Community and beyond have a
place for a home and receive whole-person care so as to be built into
self-reliant and productive people.
Target Group:
Kids
whose parents have died or are terminally ill due to civil wars or/and
HIV/AIDS, in Mityana District and beyond. There are over 146,000 Kids in
Mityana District alone, whose parents are either dead or terminally ill due
to HIV/AIDS. We would like to do the much we possibly can. You can help us!
